BIOGRAPHY

Joshua J. Smith defends clients in complex civil litigation, with a particular emphasis on premises liability and products liability actions. He represents individuals and businesses in high-stakes matters, including catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases, guiding clients through every stage of litigation—from initial case assessment to trial and resolution.

With significant experience in negligent security litigation, Joshua defends property owners, property management companies, and other businesses against claims alleging inadequate security measures led to violent crimes and injuries. His practice extends across a broad range of industries, and he frequently represents clients in the multi-unit residential and hotel sectors. Joshua is adept at developing strategic defenses, conducting thorough investigations, and advocating effectively in court to mitigate exposure for his clients.

In addition to his work in premises liability, Joshua represents manufacturers and businesses in products liability litigation, handling claims related to alleged design defects, manufacturing defects, and failure-to-warn allegations. His experience also extends to complex commercial litigation, contractual disputes, and employment matters.

Joshua takes pride in his ability to guide clients through the litigation process, ensuring they understand the practical implications of case developments and how litigation may impact their business operations. He provides proactive counsel, helping clients make informed decisions that align with their business objectives and risk management strategies.

Joshua has successfully argued dispositive motions, conducted depositions of key fact and expert witnesses, and obtained favorable outcomes for his clients. He has practiced in both Georgia state and federal courts, as well as experience in arbitration and appellate matters.

Before joining MAB, Joshua practiced at leading law firms in Atlanta and New York, where he represented clients in complex commercial litigation, cybersecurity, data privacy matters, and insurance coverage disputes.
